Abstract

The aim of this research was to enrich the theoretical framework of "physical literacy" by relying on the foundations of "transcendental wisdom" and presenting an existential-spiritual model. The study method was a comparative-analytical one with a Bardi model and a qualitative approach, which was carried out through the analysis of texts from two fields. The findings showed that conventional physical literacy, despite its achievements, suffers from five fundamental gaps due to its roots in secular anthropology:Lack of transcendent teleology, reductionism in motivation and the concept of the body, and neglect of moral dimensions and deep existential integrity. In contrast, transcendental wisdom, with concepts such as substantial movement and doubt of existence, considers the body as a “level of the soul” and a “staircase of transcendence” towards divine perfection. On this basis, a combined model of “existential-spiritual body literacy” was presented. In this model, the components of self-efficacy, motivation, and physical literacy knowledge were deepened with the concepts of "responsibility for the divine trust", "intention of nearness", and "bodily knowledge of the self", respectively, and "spirituality and finality dimension" was added as the main core. The result is that this model, by creating a transition from physical education to self-education, provides a native-Islamic framework for improving the quality of physical education.
