The concept of barakah, as a sign of divine grace in Abrahamic religions, plays a significant role in understanding the relationship between humans and God and divine blessings. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the concept of barakah in the Quran and the Old Testament, examining its definitions, functions, and theological and cultural implications to elucidate similarities and differences between Islam and Judaism. The research employs a qualitative comparative method, utilizing lexical and textual analysis and exploring Islamic and Jewish contexts through primary texts and authoritative interpretations. Findings reveal that barakah in both texts is a divine blessing encompassing material and spiritual dimensions, originating from God and contingent upon faith, piety, or adherence to divine commandments. Similarities include its divine origin, comprehensive material and spiritual nature, and its role in fostering social cohesion. However, barakah in the Quran is more universal and ethics-oriented, while in the Old Testament, it is often ethnocentric and law-oriented, with greater emphasis on worldly blessings. From an ethical and human rights perspective, the ethnocentric approach of the Old Testament raises challenges such as exclusivity and inequality, whereas the Quran emphasizes human dignity. This study underscores barakah as a bridge between divine grace and human commitment, highlighting its significance in interfaith dialogue.
