Paul M. Cobb, an American orientalist, has conducted research on Prophet Hood (AS) in the Quran. Despite the novelty of its discussion method, Cobb's research in this field has suffered from some defects that necessitate its evaluation. Therefore, the purpose of the present article is to examine Paul M. Cobb's views on Prophet Hood (AS) in the Quran, using a descriptive-analytical method. According to the study, the defects of his research on Prophet Hood (AS) in the Quran are: Cobb does not have a correct understanding of the relationship between the previous prophets and the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), while the relationship between the life story of Prophet Hood (AS) and the Prophet (PBUH) in the Quran expresses the philosophy of history; In narrating the details of the story of Hazrat Hood (AS), he did not use Shiite books at all and went to the books of authors such as Kasa'i, Tha'labi and Tabari, some of the narrations in these books are considered to be from Israelite sources; Kab considered the story of Hazrat Hood (AS)'s life to be an invention of the Prophet (PBUH), while Quranic, narrational, historical and rational evidences testify to the historical truth of this story and negate any manipulation of it by the Prophet (PBUH). His belief that Hazrat Hood (AS) did not have any clear evidence to prove his claim contradicts the necessity of the sending of prophets along with rational evidences and miracles from the perspective of reason and the Quran.
